Empowering the next generation of leaders

STUDENT CONFERENCE LIVERPOOL
LAST FEW PLACES
SAT 30 MARCH

The CIPD North of England Student Conference is an event not to be missed. The conference provides an opportunity for students and those wishing to progress their careers to come together, learn from experienced practitioners and academics, and build their confidence and capabilities to drive better work and working lives.

The programme is aimed at both part-time and full-time students but is equally interesting for those already wrking within the profession. So whether you are looking to start your career or to progress to a more senior role, this is the event for you!

You’ll benefit from a mix of practical and theory-based sessions, as well as plenty of engaging discussions as the CIPD draws on its ‘New Profession Map’ to examine the changing world of work, its impact on HR and L&D, and what this means for you.

We’ll be exploring best practice when it comes to achieving purpose and good work, and you’ll gain so much during the day that you’ll leave well equipped with ready-to-implement techniques for leveraging your skills, credibility and influence.

The conference programme is packed with energising sessions to really get you thinking and exchanging with our speakers and fellow delegates. There’s no risk of getting board. Take a look at some of the break-out sessions

The Student Conference provides you with a real opportunity to network and grow your circle. You’ll probably not get such a chance to meet and engage with our speakers (unless you attend next year’s conference of course). You’ll also have the opportunity to quiz our speakers on how they progressed their careers and they will be sharing their top tips with you.

Panellists: Rebekah Ayres, Director of Organisational Capabilities, HMRC, Tony Vickers-Byrne, Chief Advisor for HR Practice, CIPD, Gary Cookson, Director, EPIC HR. Session chair: Ema Perks, Branch Chair, CIPD Lancashire

How we are involved

CIPD Manchester Branch Ambassador, Gary Cookson, will host the Ignite reflection session, recapping creatively on the main points and key takeaways from the day and looking at the value of professionalism in the changing world of work.

Gary also joins the interactive panel discussion – The journey to senior people professional, focusing on how senior professionals start and develop their careers and what tips they can give to ambitious students and junior HR and L&D practitioners.

Rachel, who leads our L&D group and Pubic Policy Panel will be there too, to represent CIPD Manchester Branch and we’re pretty sure she’ll be sketchnoting many of the sessions.
