Why Wellbeing Matters
Dr Paul Litchfield, Chair, What Works Centre for Wellbeing and former Chief Medical Officer at BT, joins a fantastic line-up at the CIPD Northern Annual Conference on 21 June in York. Paul will be exploring the definitions and measurements around well-being, and why it matters. Paul’s talk on ‘Why well-being matters‘ will explore the links between well-being, a fairer society and making the economic case for prevention. He’ll explain the key factors influencing well-being, building on the UK’s world-leading science.
The importance of building an inclusive work environment
Helen Moulinos, Chief Operating Officer at Stonewall, also joins the line-up to focus on ‘the importance of building an inclusive work environment.’ Helen will discuss the difference between ‘talking about diversity’ and delivering ‘real and sustainable impact’ in the workplace. You’ll learn about the three main approaches implemented by Stonewall, the challenges they encountered along the way and their results. Finally, Helen will examine the challenges faced by Accenture employees working at client sites and giving examples of how to address some of the barriers to inclusivity.

Carmen Drinkwater, HRD for HR Shared Services, Sodexo, Sally Bucknell, Director, Diversity & Inclusiveness, EY and Dr. Sheena Johnson, Occupational Psychologist & Senior Lecturer in Organisational Psychologist, Alliance Manchester Business School join the day’s panel discussion.
Chaired by Tony Vickers-Byrne, Chief Advisor for HR Practice CIPD, the panel will focus on the regional challenges for both organisations and HR professionals in implementing new technologies, embracing an open culture on employee well-being and mental health, and encouraging more inclusive workplaces.
