Engaging with ministers and policy-makers

Are you familiar with the work the CIPD undertakes to influence policy-making and people management practices?

Join us on Monday 1 July 2019 from 17:45 – 20:00 at Ziferblat Edge Street to learn more about, and become involved in, this pivotal area of CIPD engagement.

Ben Willmott, Head of Public Policy CIPD, will join us to give an overview of the CIPD’s recent Public Policy work and will provide us with details of what to expect over the coming months. Together, we will draw on Ben’s insights to develop our Public Policy Panel agenda and calendar of events for the months ahead. Our Public Policy Panel meets under The Chatham House Rule.

What is CIPD Public Policy Engagement?

The CIPD’s public policy engagement involves both engaging with ministers and other policy-makers and drawing on the knowledge and expertise within our 150,000-strong membership to inform our views to government.

The expertise and data we gather from our area membership contributes to giving the CIPD an unrivalled capacity to accurately forecast labour market trends and to consider the impact of employment legislation across all sectors and sizes of organisation.

This two-way engagement can help influence policy making and day-to-day people management practice, for example, by ensuring members are aware of changes to legislation or new practitioner guidance developed in response to the CIPD’s public policy work.
