Mock Employment Tribunal

Whether you are an employer, HR practitioner, line manager, or business owner/manager, you need to take proactive steps to mitigate the risk of claims being brought against you.

While you cannot stop an employee making a claim against you, you can do everything in your power to lower the risk, by treating everyone that comes into contact with your company, as an employee or a prospective employee, fairly and reasonably.

Early conciliation though Acas does provide an opportunity to receive expert help and advice in settling a potential claim against you and regardless of whether you think the employee is prepared to move towards a tribunal or not, it’s best to take the process seriously and try to reach a resolution.

To help your organisation defend claims more effectively, and take preventative measures, it’s wise to attend a Mock Employment Tribunal to learn about the typical challenges an employer may face in the event an employee brings a claim against your organisation.

On 4 February we’ll be running a mock employment tribunal with Mills & Reeve LLP in Manchester. Claire Blacktakes her employer, The Trumpton Corporation Limited, to tribunal claiming unfair dismissal.

Experiencing an Employment Tribunal first-hand helps you to understand the full trial process and you gain valuable awareness of what is it like to give evidence, be cross-examined and re-examined.

Our attendees will also learn why cases go to tribunal, procedural issues resulting from how employers conduct their investigations and disciplinary hearings, witnesses’ selection, preparing for the tribunal, the role of the judge and panel, the importance of presenting your case clearly, supplying evidence, settlements and handing tribunal forms and processes.

Our event has already sold out but you can follow the day on social media using the hashtags #cipdMCR and #MockTribunal (from 08:30 to 14:30)
