Our flagship Annual Employment Law Masterclass provides insightful sessions on recent and forthcoming legislative changes, the latest case law developments, plus focused deep-dive sessions on areas of particular interest to people professionals.

Societal developments and the impact of COVID-19 have brought into sharper focus the importance of diversity, inclusion and wellbeing to an organisation’s success. We’re delighted to welcome experts from Mills & Reeve LLP, Oakridge Consulting and Acas North West to share their expertise and advice.

All sessions will take place online and will be offered free of charge. We may not be in a position to provide the traditional full-day experience in a prestigious venue with warm welcome breakfast and two-course sit-down lunch, but we will provide all attendees who connect with copies of slide decks and a chance to remain online after each session concludes to network.

Resilience in Times of Rapid Change

We all respond to stress and adversity differently, and our resilience helps us overcome particularly challenging times. No one is born resilient; we build resilience over time and through experience. We will provide you with an opportunity to reflect on what is and isn’t working for you, particularly relevant in today’s changing environment. We will explore how leaders can build their resilience and help others around them adapt in the face of adverse circumstances.

Claire-Marie Boggiano
Claire is a Chartered Engineer and a guest lecturer in Leadership & Change at Manchester Metropolitan University.  She spent her early career in Financial Services and left corporate life to establish her own Change & Development consultancy business, Lurig Ltd.  She has been an associate with Oakridge for over 5 years, where she helped create and regularly facilitates the female leadership programme, Stride. Claire-Marie is an ambassador for Women on Boards UK and Queen Bee Coaching, a Pankhurst Trust service.   She is delighted to have been nominated & shortlisted for the ‘Mentor of the Year’ Northern Power Women Award 2020/21. Claire-Marie believes organisations succeed by working with the talents and imagination of their people.

Managing a Fair Disciplinary Process

Difficulties may arise at various points in the employment relationship and disciplinary & grievance procedures ensure challenges are dealt with fairly and consistently. Employers need procedures that support both the employer’s and employee’s perspective and adhere to the Acas Code of Practice: Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures.

Mental Health & Employment Law

One in four people will experience mental ill-health during their working lives. The pandemic is taking a particular toll on everyone’s mental wellbeing. This session will focus on how organisations can properly support and manage employees who are struggling with their mental health. We will look at:

  • The challenges of home working and how to overcome them
  • How to recognise the signs of poor mental health
  • How the law on equality and discrimination is relevant
  • How to manage sickness absence related to mental ill-health

We will look at a number of key discrimination developments, to help you understand how to tackle workplace inequality and the consequences if you do not. We will also cover important new case law and legislation, including the rights workers have if they refuse to attend work on health and safety grounds, and other emerging trends.
