Few organisations that employ victims of slavery are complicit. Most are unwitting victims of predatory traffickers who skillfully place their victims in workforces and supply chains for their own profit.

Globally, it is estimated that there are 24.9 million people in forced labour, sexual exploitation, or domestic servitude. One survey indicated that 77% of organisations expected to find modern slavery in their operations or supply chain.
How to take action
We’re holding a highly interactive and conversational style event to provide people professionals with practical steps to educate, implement and mitigate the risk of modern-day slavery within their organisations on 4 November 08:00-09:15. Our Breakfast Camp forms part of the fringe events taking place in tandem with the CIPD Annual Conference and Exhibition in Manchester. We’re bringing together experts in the field of modern-day slavery and human trafficking to share what HR professionals can do to understand signs and indicators associated with modern slavery.
Expert insights
We’ll be joined by Susan Banister from Slave-Free Alliance. Susan joined Hope for Justice in 2017 and set up Slave-Free Alliance in 2018. She has hands-on experience of rescuing victims of forced labour in the UK and understands the devastating effect this crime has and how victims and businesses can find themselves exploited. Susan currently works with businesses looking at modern slavery in their own organisations and their supply chains. She also leads a number of modern slavery working groups including the waste and recycling and utilities sectors.
