Ewelina Niziolek-Wilson joins CIPD Manchester Branch as the new Standalone HR Lead.

I’m delighted to join the CIPD Manchester Branch committee as the new Standalone HR Group Lead. 

I am a Chartered Member and currently working as Head of People and Training at Castlefield, a medium-sized, employee-owned, thoughtful investor. My previous HR experience encompasses many years in standalone HR roles at different global hospitality brands around Manchester.

I joined the Standalone HR practitioners’ group around five years ago, and have always found it offers fantastic support for those with no internal HR network like me. The group is diverse, active, and helpful with all sorts of questions and challenges. 

Over the past 18 months, the group has actively helped its members to tackle new issues like furlough, redundancies, and hybrid working, and I’ve seen first-hand how valuable the group is to its members.

I want to embed the branch vision into the group’s work. Of the four pillars, ‘Career Partner‘ and ‘Dynamic Connector‘ particularly stand out to me.

Today the group has over 80 members from across the region and spanning several industries and its diversity makes it such an interesting forum. The group enables and empowers sharing experiences, learnings, challenges and engaging a wider group of those in (often) smaller businesses by creating a safe, non-judgmental environment for all. 

The new form of networking is not about climbing a ladder to success; it’s about collaboration, cocreation, partnerships, and long-term values-based relationships.

The group will continue to provide an opportunity for members to explore the challenges faced by standalone HR practitioners and share solutions to common problems encountered at work. So if you’re working alone and perhaps feeling like a ‘drop-in’ centre or the go-to person to solve all kinds of people (and non-people) issues and miss not having a support network, our group is for you.

I’ll shortly reach out to group members to seek feedback and suggestions on topics and subjects of particular interest for 2022 and beyond.
