In December 2021, Sara Russell, Senior Careers Consultant at Alliance Manchester Business School joined us to provide valuable advice on career planning, CV writing and applying for jobs. Our yearly practical workshop is a one-stop shop for anyone about to search for their first or next role.

When applying for jobs, your CV is your ultimate selling tool. If you want to
be selected for an interview, this is your opportunity to showcase your skills and experience. It can be challenging to get through this first hurdle as employers often receive hundreds of applications for each job advertisement. Have this in your mind when preparing your CV. You’ll need to be both succinct and relevant to grab their attention.

Effective Networking

Does the term ‘networking’ have you scratching your head or does it perhaps fill you with dread? Our participants learned the ins and outs of networking and the benefits it can bring to a job search and career. We urged participants to seize the chance to participate in online CIPD branch events up and down the country while the majority of branches deliver events online.
