For this Membership Spotlight, we turn to one of our own branch volunteers. Teodora Calin has recently taken on the role of our HR & Employment Law Lead. By day, she works as an Employee Engagement Advisor in the health and social care sector.
‘’ I am delighted to take up the HR & Employment Law Lead role of CIPD Manchester working alongside fellow volunteer CIPD members. We are here as a dedicated career partner and as an established voice for the profession and our local community and this is reflected in everything we do as a branch!
Although my current role is that of an Employee Engagement Adviser, I have worked collaboratively with colleagues in the workplace, fellow students on my Level 7 CIPD Masters course and volunteers at the Manchester branch on projects concerning various areas of HR: recruitment, policy review and development, processes and procedures, HR Analytics and L&D, which enabled me to gain a good understanding of the more generalist roles of the People Profession and of the importance of Employment Law.
My journey with CIPD Manchester began some years ago – initially as an ambassador for the branch supporting the Employment Law, OD and Wellbeing leads with the facilitation of various events, later as a Lead Ambassador for the Membership Engagement Group and more recently as the HR & Employment Law Lead. Going forward, I am hoping to work in collaboration with stakeholders, including leading law firms and prestigious conference venues to take this flagship event from strength to strength – increasing attendance and maintaining our members’ knowledge of the latest employment legislation changes.
Volunteering for the CIPD Manchester branch can be immensely rewarding; you get a chance to support events that are of interest to you and that you are curious about, it can help develop your communication and presentation skills and your career prospects and can offer you the support of incredibly smart, dedicated, and knowledgeable people in exchange for some of your time, that’s truly well spent!’’
